Rob Montgomery graduated with an M.A. in General Experimental Psychology from California State University, Northridge. There he conducted research at the intersection of technology and mental health under the advisement of Dr. Abraham Rutchick. Rob has been involved with the research team at CBT California for over four years. He started as a Research Assistant in 2017 and was promoted to Data Manager in 2018.
Now, as the Associate Director of Research and Data Manager, he supports with the management of research and quality assurance efforts at CBT California. His responsibilities include overseeing the collection and organization of clinical outcomes data, training and mentoring research assistants, and designing and executing research projects in collaboration with other research team members.
He is passionate about rigorously researching, implementing, and disseminating mental health solutions on a large scale. He is particularly interested in evidence-based treatments such as CBT, DBT, and MBSR. In addition, he is interested in measurement-based and stepped-care treatment models.
The research Rob has conducted at CBT California has been presented at a number of international conferences. Such as, the International Society for the Implementation and Teaching of DBT, and the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Rob has also published research in peer-reviewed journals, including Psychiatric Services.
In addition to his role at CBT California, Rob currently works full-time as a Research Associate for Happify Health with the Clinical Research and Development team, where he designs and executes research on Happify’s digital therapeutic products.
In a past life, Rob received a B.F.A. in musical theatre performance from Penn State University. He performed in professional theatrical productions around the country. He is also an E-RYT 200-hour certified Yoga Instructor, and has taught yoga and mindfulness for over nine years.
