Maksim Giljen (he/him) is currently a third-year doctoral student pursuing his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He received his B.A. in psychology from Northwestern University and his M.A. in psychological science from UCI. Maksim’s program of research focuses on understanding how social stressors and stigma in sexual and gender minority populations and immigrant communities impact the development, assessment, and treatment of psychosis-spectrum symptoms. Maksim has experience conducting diagnostic assessments with adolescents and adults for various mental health concerns, with particular expertise in assessing clinical high-risk for psychosis. His doctoral clinical training has also included providing therapy at UCI’s Psychological Services Center, where he gained experience in utilizing various evidence-based treatment protocols, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills and the Unified Protocol for emotional disorders.

Maksim identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and a first-generation American and is dedicated to providing evidence-based, culturally sensitive care to clients.
