Sydney Lopez earned her B.A. in Psychological Science with Cum Laude from Cal State University San Marcos in 2017, where she was also a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. Just shortly before the completion of her undergraduate studies, she underwent an internship with The Elizabeth Hospice and the Center for Compassionate Care. During this time, she was able to combine psychology and medicine and gain valuable hands-on experience with clients in both inpatient and outpatient palliative clinical settings, providing mental health support alongside the collaboration of nursing facilities/hospitals, licensed clinical psychologists, doctors, and other medical professionals.
Through this experience, she not only furthered her love for psychology on a deeper empathetic level, but also ignited a passion within the integration of medicine. She then began to pursue a further education in the medical field, achieving an A.S. in Biology with an Emphasis in Science and Mathematics, and by working extensively in the healthcare setting. More recently, her background includes an externship with Jacobs Medical Center at UCSD in La Jolla, as well as working as a medical assistant for a five sub-specialty trained surgeons office in the practice of orthopedic medicine in Encinitas, CA. Sydney has been able to combine the use of both of her passions—the fields of psychology and medicine—by optimizing her focus on efficient treatment, while also using a compassionate mental healthcare approach.
Sydney is the director of intake administration services coordinator for the practice.
