Nanci Argueta, Ph.D.

Dr. Nanci Argueta completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. Completing an APA-accredited internship at the Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Clinic (Downtown LA VA), she performed individual, group, and couples treatment, in addition to psychodiagnostic assessments. Clinically, Dr. Argueta has previously worked as a clinician at a specialty OCD clinic, as a psychometrician for juvenile detainees and adults, a therapist at an outpatient teaching hospital, as a child and family therapist at a nonprofit outpatient clinic, and providing didactic training and direct supervision to graduate-level clinicians in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. She has provided individual and group therapy, as well as psychodiagnostic assessments in Spanish. She has also taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Dr. Argueta is a Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellow at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and CBT California, where she provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) to clients. In addition, Dr. Argueta provides supervision and instruction in the most current evidence-based therapies to graduate-level clinicians and psychiatry residents at Harbor-UCLA. Dr. Argueta’s research interests include: developing interventions for improving Latino student retention rates at Predominantly White Universities, examining the role of violence and drugs on Mexican-American border families, and examining the role of college-generation status on self-efficacy and college adjustment.
